I qualified from UCL and The Royal Free obtaining my basic competencies in anaesthesia and critical care following foundation training. Prior to starting my vascular career I gained a Diploma in the Medical Care of Catastrophes, a PhD from Queen Mary University of London and spent some time working in trauma surgery in South Africa. I remain an honorary senior lecturer for the MSc in Trauma Sciences at Queen Mary's where I continue my research interests focused on the application of computer modelling and artificial intelligence to improve health system performance and patient outcomes both in the U.K. and internationally.
