My principal place of work is Heartlands Hospital where I provide on call service as the vascular registrar on call leading the ward round with or without the consultant, getting new referrals and operating on emergency cases. I supervise junior doctors in wardbased care.
I run outpatient clinics and endovenous lists where I assess and treat patients without senior supervision. I performed independently more than 300 endovenous procedure consisting in ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy and radiofrequency ablation.
I attend elective arterial theatre where I perform vascular and endovascular procedures, assisting a consultant or as first operator with tutoring. I sometimes run access list without senior supervision.
I have been involved in a total of 48 open aortic repairs, 100 standard infrarenal EVAR, 140 complex EVAR (implant of fenestrated, branched and physician-modified graft) and 39 TEVAR, assisting a consultant or as first operator with tutoring.
Part of my duties is also management of the middle grade vascular rota. I coordinate and arrange job duties and on call commitments of the Vascular Registrars. I am involved in formal and informal teaching to medical students, junior doctors and nurses, research projects and audits (directly or supervising junior doctors).
